Yannik has been deeply involved in the cryptography space, driven by a passion for engineering since childhood. His early success with shiftscreen, an iOS app with over 100,000 paying users, combined with his expertise in computer science and mathematics, positions him as a pivotal force in Arcium's technical strategy, particularly in the realm of MPC (Multi-Party Computation). Having also studied law, Yannik brings a unique, multifaceted perspective to the table. As CEO, his leadership and visionary approach drive Arcium's mission to revolutionize confidential computing.
Nicolas Le Bel holds a Master’s degree in physics from ETH Zürich, specializing in theoretical and computational physics, with a thesis focused on the fractal properties of certain phase transitions. This led him to work on various projects, from bioinformatics to smart contract design, before being introduced to cryptography through the ZK realm. Since joining Arcium in 2023, Nicolas has been leading the development of async-mpc, Arcium's multiparty computation Rust library.
Sergiu hold a PhD in operations research applied to optimization problems in parallel processing systems. Shortly after graduating, he started working on compilation tools for Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) and applied cryptography. He was the main contributor to Cingulata, the first compilation chain for FHE. His current interests are cryptography techniques for privacy-preserving computations (FHE, MPC among others) and optimization methods for privacy-preserving algorithms.
Julian began his entrepreneurial journey during his engineering and economics studies at the Technical University of Munich. After discovering Bitcoin and Ethereum in 2016, he became deeply passionate about decentralized technologies. Before fully diving into the Web3 space, Julian gained valuable experience working for two years in finance and banking. His background also includes serving on the board of START Munich and earning a scholarship from UnternehmerTUM. As Chief Strategy Officer, Julian is instrumental in shaping Arcium's strategic direction and driving its growth in the decentralized computing space.
Marius Vuille studied mathematics at EPFL and completed a PhD in algebraic geometry, with a focus on the computation of isogenies between Jacobian varieties of hyperelliptic curves. He then spent five years as a Machine Learning Engineer at Inpher, where he developed novel MPC algorithms for various data science and machine learning problems. Marius joined Arcium in the summer of 2024, contributing to both machine learning and cryptography-related challenges.
Dimitar Jetchev is a mathematician and cryptographer specializing in elliptic curves and their applications to cryptography. As an affiliated faculty member of EPFL, he teaches courses in number theory and public key cryptography/cryptanalysis. His research interests span foundational and computational aspects of elliptic curves, privacy-enhancing technologies, and their applications to both machine learning (PPML) and broader Responsible AI initiatives. Dimitar has contributed to tools and protocols in MPC, FHE, TEE, Federated ML, and more recently, ZKP, focusing on their applications in Web3 and on-chain privacy. He was the co-founder and former CTO of Inpher and maintains personal interest in Web3 topics such as consensus protocols and DeFi.
Nico Schapeler has a background in math and computer science from TUM and has been working at the intersection of cryptography and blockchains for nearly a decade. Some of his previous work includes TEEs for blockchain key material (before transitioning to MPC at Arcium), high-performance implementations of hash algorithms, and zk tech for onchain privacy tooling with Elusiv. At Arcium, Nico leads all technical aspects, ranging from cryptography research to protocol implementation.
Lukas joined the team after meeting Yannik, Nico, and Julian at a hacker house, bringing with him a rich blend of operational and development experience. Following his commercial apprenticeship, Lukas worked for two and a half years at a fintech startup in Zurich, where he reported to the former McKinsey CFO of Switzerland. This role honed his operations, finance, and recruiting skills. His interest in AI led him to develop a GPT-3 based SaaS application that was later acquired. As COO of Arcium, Lukas drives operational excellence, oversees recruiting, and manages finances, playing a crucial role in leading the company's mission in decentralized confidential computing.
Alberto Ibarrondo has been passionate about math from an early age. He studied Telecommunications engineering at UPM in Madrid and later pursued an MSc in data science and security at Eurecom/Telecom Paris, France. After a brief period as a data scientist in the travel industry, he earned a PhD in applied cryptography from Sorbonne, focusing on the design and implementation of novel protocols for privacy-preserving biometric systems using MPC and FHE. Before joining Arcium, Alberto worked on building Threshold Signature Schemes (TSS) from the ground up at Copper, a crypto custodian. Currently, at Arcium, he pursues his research interests in efficient MPC protocols and their real-world applications, contributing to the core cryptography of the company.
Sascha Drobnjak holds a Master’s degree in Law and brings over 12 years of legal expertise to the team. Sascha's experience includes serving as a researcher and lecturer at the University of Zurich while also co-founding and leading an online legal services firm. Sascha has worked in various law firms, focusing on litigation and arbitration before transitioning to corporate law and M&A. Prior to joining Arcium, Sascha worked at one of Switzerland’s leading law firms for several years, specializing in regulatory, fintech, and DLT, where they handled high-profile cases in the Web3 industry. Since 2024, Sascha has been leading legal and compliance at Arcium, driving the company’s efforts to navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes.
With a background in Computer Science, Leopold entered the blockchain space in 2017, initially contributing to Ethereum open-source. He subsequently co-founded Stake Capital in 2018, one of the first validation service providers, participating in the launch of many early chains and protocols, including Cosmos, Polkadot, Solana, and others. In 2019, he co-authored StakeDAO, and later worked in MEV arbitrage. He joined Elusiv in 2023, and now contribute primarily to Arx Node development, as well as to the design of Arcium's crypto-economic incentives.
Victor is an alumni of the École Normale Supérieure with two Master’s degrees in computer science and mathematics, specializing in algorithmics and probabilities respectively. He first worked on Multi-Party Computation at Inpher, before joining Arcium in summer 2024. At Arcium, he engineered the Arcis compiler, which translates our high-level Arcis DSL into low-level gates.
With a background in communication systems and a master's degree from EPFL, Daniel focused his studies on cybersecurity, particularly in the areas of cryptography and privacy technologies. At Arcium, he primarily works on the Arx node software, along with other related software projects. Daniel joined the company during its early days as Elusiv, contributing to our mission of enhancing and generalizing privacy.
Arihant is an engineering graduate from BITS Pilani, India, and has been working in the blockchain industry since 2021. Prior to joining Elusiv in mid-2023, he contributed to multiple projects in the ecosystem, ranging from decentralized finance to ZK privacy. At Arcium, he focuses on building developer tooling, and supporting projects building with Arcium, to expand and strengthen Arcium’s ecosystem.
Tobias studies computer science at TUM with a minor in mathematics, focusing on cryptography and formal methods. Prior to joining Elusiv in 2023, he worked on formal verification of polynomial commitment schemes for ZKPs. Now at Arcium I’m working mostly on efficient symmetric cryptography in a MPC setting.
Mlian is currently studying Computer Science in Oslo and working as an intern at Arcium. Outside of work, he swims competitively and enjoys exploring all things tech and crypto. His role involves developing creative social media strategies and contributing to community engagement.
Balazs Bota graduated from university as a painter and then as a multimedia developer, later advancing his studies in digital painting and visual entertainment in Hollywood. He spent several years in the creative industry, working as an art and creative director in Singapore and other countries, managing global brands and campaigns. In 2020, Balazs entered the crypto industry, taking on the role of Lead Marketing Designer at SwissBorg and later at Gelato. He joined Elusiv in early 2024 and played a significant role in shaping and transforming the brand into Arcium.
Alexander graduated from Macromedia University in Berlin, where he wrote his bachelor thesis on Surveillance Capitalism and Blockchain. He was the first marketing hire at SatoshiPay, a cross-border payments startup on the Stellar Network. After graduating, he joined Anoma, leading marketing and growth and establishing the brand Namada - a multi-asset shielded pool on cosmos. In early 2023, Alexander joined Elusiv as one of the first two hires, leading marketing, communications, and growth - from Elusiv's mainnet launch to the rebrand to Arcium in May 2024.
Robyn Thomas is a member of SuperteamUK with over four years of experience in community and Web3 marketing. Before joining the Arcium team, Robyn worked as a Community Growth Manager at the Mina Foundation and served as Head of Community and KOLs at Forcefield, a Web3 marketing agency backed by Kenetic Capital. Prior to transitioning into the Web3 space, Robyn began as a Community and CSR specialist at GFT Technologies. In addition to their role at Arcium, Robyn is a Director for an independent research centre focused on ESG advisory, inclusive technologies, and just transitions.
